Hard to believe the next time we get together, it will already be May and summer will be upon us. We will most likely have already selected and purchased all our sire needs for this year and turned them out. Calving season should be wrapped up or, depending upon your breeding season, close to finished. Operational management attention at this time tends to shift further from the mature herd – assuming the above is true and females are in good condition – and more toward pasture and summer stocker management. Our fall calves will be weaned and preconditioned, and we will be preparing to turn-them out to summer grass, which means focusing on supplementation and deworming strategies.
Lots to talk about. See you then!
