Over the last few newsletters, we’ve discussed the potential negative impacts of back-to-back drought conditions. I stated in the most recent (November) newsletter that, outside of a little more moisture earlier in the spring, the summer of 2023 – at least in Southeastern Oklahoma – was not much better than it was in 2022. Based upon current pasture conditions, I still believe that sentiment. In fact, we are already working on our grazing/foraging management plan, including herbicide and fertility, for our cow/calf and stocker programs. Hopefully, we can not only get some good spring moisture like we did last year, but that it’s followed by suitable summer moisture, as well.
Until next time!
